Indium-111 Octreotide scan - Preparation Requirements

TOTAL DURATION OF STUDY:

48 hours (may extend to 72 hours depending on clinical indication)

SCANNING TIME:

Images at 4, 24 and 48 hours. Approximately 90-120 minutes per image.

PREGNANCY:

Contraindicated

BREAST FEEDING:

Stopped

MEDICATION:

Octreotide or somatostatin treatment for 48 hours before the study. Long acting treatment to be stopped 8 weeks. Kindly have your clinician speak directly with Nuclear Physician for full preparation.

BIOCHEMISTRY:

Rising specific tumour markers

PREVIOUS STUDIES:

All radiology and histology required.

DIET:

No specific diet. Eat as usual. Bring a snack for duration of study.

HYDRATION:

Patient is encouraged to drink water prior and during study
