Bone Scan - Preparation Requirements
TOTAL DURATION OF STUDY:
3-4 hours; if required up to 24 hours
SCANNING TIME:
Patient and clinical specific. Approximately 60-90 minutes
PREGNANCY:
Contraindicated
BREAST FEEDING:
Paused for the duration of study, mother may express milk prior to study, recommence breast feeding 12 hours post scan.
MEDICATION:
Need to inform about chemotherapy and bisphosphonate therapy
BIOCHEMISTRY:
PSA, rising specific tumour markers, ALP
DIET:
No diet required. Eat as usual. Bring a snack for duration of study.
ALLERGY:
None
HYDRATION:
Patient is encouraged to drink water prior and during study
